About Us
ABOUT US
This food blog was created by Krissy & Daniel who both love to eat and cook. They want to share their experiences with food, both written and visual. Using their Canon Rebel XTI SLR camera, they are able to capture the essence of the many dishes they’ve created or enjoyed beyond the kitchen playground. Daniel has a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu at the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena and works full-time as a Research & Development Chef at a large seafood manufacturing company. He is always surrounded by ingredients, fresh ideas, and kitchen gadgets. But the thing he loves best is cooking in the comfort of his own kitchen with the wife – Krissy.
Krissy juggles a lot of jobs, contrary to popular belief that she spends too much time blogging on this food blog. Her primary job is being a Leasing Project Manager for a development firm that builds cell towers for wireless companies. Currently she is working on the Clearwire 4G project that is set to launch in the LA Market at the end of 2010. Aside from her full-time position, she is also a part-time Realtor who mainly assists family and friends purchase homes. Real estate has always been a great passion and fun career for her. On top of all that, she has also been hired to do extensive design work and food photography for various companies. In her spare time, she loves to cook with Daniel–and even started to enjoy gardening!
Gardening has become a huge hobby for this couple. They have utilized every square inch of space in their backyard to grow as many vegetables, herbs, and fruit as humanly possible. They take extra care of their plants to ensure a nice yield of crop. Their harvest has been showcased in many recipes and dishes that they have created. They are extremely passionate about combining the love of gardening and cooking and thus have created The Food Addicts to share the many wonderful and enticing dishes with their readers. Their mission is to help inspire the readers to not be afraid of cooking, and to be open-minded to try new things. At the end of the day, they are most proud of themselves when a reader have used a recipe and enjoyed a new dish with loved ones. Together, we can all be food addicts!
Message from K&D:
Thank you to everyone who have supported our food blog and passion for food, cooking, and gardening. Your thoughtful comments have continued to motivate and inspire us to update the blog as often and frequently as possible. We are also extremely thankful for the many companies who have shared their products with us and hosted all of our monthly giveaways. This helps keep our readers entertained
We hope you continue to be an avid reader of The Food Addicts. Please do share any comments, advice, or suggestions so that we can improve this blog for you!
F.A.Q.
Q: Who writes for the blog?
A: Krissy does the writing for The Food Addicts.
Q: Who does the cooking?
A: Daniel does majority of the cooking, but I stand in as his sous chef and I do a lot of the prep work and other aspects of completing the meal.
Q: Why did you guys decide to start The Food Addicts?
A: Since we started cooking together, Daniel has always pestered me to start a food blog to put a collection of our home-cooked meals together. One day, I gave in and we brainstormed for a fun blog name, bought the domain, and created a site with Wordpress. One of the main reasons we wanted to have a food blog was to expand our creativity with cooking. We didn’t want to be in the same boring routine of making the same boring stuff. So this blog gave us an excuse to try different things and challenge us in the kitchen.
Q: Are you guys photographers? Who takes the pictures?
A: We are not professional photographers, and have never taken a class (although we really want to!) We just try to do our best with taking the pictures of the step-by-step process of our recipes. I do majority of the picture-taking since Daniel is busy making the food.
Q: What camera and lens do you use?
A: We use a Canon Rebel XTI 400D.
Q: When did you start The Food Addicts?
A: Our very first post was dated January 22, 2009.
Q: What are some of the perks of having a food blog?
A: Well, we won’t deny it – we love the freebies. Random companies contact us and give us their products to try out, hoping we would blog about it. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t. And many times, we are able to give their products out to our readers with our monthly giveaways. That’s always fun! Another perk would have to be the enjoyment of sharing this hobby with other foodies, which we get to meet at various events.
Q: Can we come over to your house to eat?
A: If you are a personal friend of ours, we would gladly invite you over, granted you are a fan of our food blog, of course. And the only way for us to know you are an avid reader is to leave some comments from time to time. Your enthusiasm for our cooking could lead to some free and delicious food! On the other hand, if you are a stranger, you may want to start some sort of friendship with us first before begging for food.
Q: Where are you guys from?
A: We are based in Norwalk, California which is in LA County. If you’re asking ethnicity, I am Vietnamese and Daniel is Chinese-Caucasian.
Q: Why do you have a donate button on the bottom?
A: Just in case anyone out there adores and loves us and wants to contribute to the costs of buying ingredients for our recipes, or for server costs. Hey, doesn’t hurt to have it there, right? =)
