ABOUT US

The Food Addicts

This food blog was created by Krissy & Daniel who both love to eat and cook.  We want to share our experiences with food, both written and visual. We use a Canon Rebel XTI SLR camera to capture the essence of the many dishes we’ve created or enjoyed beyond the kitchen playground. Daniel has a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu at the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena… and I just happened to marry him. =) But don’t get me wrong, I love to cook as well, so it worked out great! In addition, we have a garden where we grow organic produce that is used in many of our recipes. You can see what we’ve grown in the “Garden” section of the blog.

For our readers and subscribers – we want you to give us your input, feedback, and requests for anything related to food, beer, or wine! Our goal is to inspire you to get your ass in the kitchen and cook up a storm!

F.A.Q.

Q: Who writes for the blog?
A: Krissy does all the writing. She’s not very good at it. =]

Q: Who does the cooking?
A: Daniel does majority of the cooking, but I stand in as his sous chef and I do a lot of the prep work and other aspects of completing the meal.

Q: Why did you guys decide to start The Food Addicts?
A: Since we started cooking together,  Daniel has always pestered me to start a food blog to put a collection of our home-cooked meals together. One day, I gave in and we brainstormed for a fun blog name, bought the domain, and created a site with Wordpress. One of the main reasons we wanted to have a food blog was to expand our creativity with cooking. We didn’t want to be in the same boring routine of making the same boring stuff. So this blog gave us an excuse to try different things and challenge us in the kitchen.

Q: Are you guys photographers? Who takes the pictures?
A: We are not professional photographers, and have never taken a class (although we really want to!) We just try to do our best with taking the pictures of the step-by-step process of our recipes. I do majority of the picture-taking since Daniel is busy making the food. I also use Photoshop to help lighten or sharpen up the pictures.

Q: What camera and lens do you use?
A: We use a Canon Rebel XTI 400D. We plan on upgrading to the 1D or 5D pretty soon. ;) We use various lenses for shooting our food.

Q: When did you start The Food Addicts?
A: Our very first post was dated January 22, 2009.

Q: What are some of the perks of having a food blog?
A: Well, we won’t deny it – we love the freebies. Random companies contact us and give us their products to try out, hoping we would blog about it. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t. And many times, we are able to give their products out to our readers with our monthly giveaways. That’s always fun! Another perk would have to be the enjoyment of sharing this hobby with other foodies, which we get to meet at various events.

Q: Can we come over to your house to eat?
A: If you are a personal friend of ours, we would gladly invite you over, granted you are a fan of our food blog, of course. And the only way for us to know you are an avid reader is to leave some comments from time to time. Your enthusiasm for our cooking could lead to some free and delicious food! On the other hand, if you are a stranger, you may want to start some sort of friendship with us first before begging for food.

Q: Where are you guys from?
A: We are based in Norwalk, California which is in LA County. If you’re asking ethnicity, I am Vietnamese and Daniel is Chinese-Caucasian.

Q: Why do you have a donate button on the bottom?
A: Just in case anyone out there adores and loves us and wants to contribute to the costs of buying ingredients for our recipes, or for server costs. Hey, doesn’t hurt to have it there, right? =)

Hi, just noticed you on our Facebook page. We’ve just printed some gorgeous labels based on food stickers. They are coming off the press as I type. Send me your address and I will send you a few samples. We’ll be putting up a template on our website soon so these labels can be personalized with a professional look. If you go to mrsgrossmans.com you’ll see a few of these designs unders what’s new. But they are nothing like holding them in your hand! Best, Barbara Marino
