ABOUT US

This food blog was created by Krissy & Daniel who both love to eat and cook.  They want to share their experiences with food, both written and visual. Using their Canon Rebel XTI SLR camera, they are able to capture the essence of the many dishes they’ve created or enjoyed beyond the kitchen playground. Daniel has a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu at the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena and works full-time as a Research & Development Chef at a large seafood manufacturing company. He is always surrounded by ingredients, fresh ideas, and kitchen gadgets. But the thing he loves best is cooking in the comfort of his own kitchen with the wife – Krissy.

Gardening has become a huge hobby for this couple. They have utilized every square inch of space in their backyard to grow as many vegetables, herbs, and fruit as humanly possible. They take extra care of their plants to ensure  a nice yield of crop. Their harvest has been showcased in many recipes and dishes that they have created. They are extremely passionate about combining the love of gardening and cooking and thus have created The Food Addicts to share the many wonderful and enticing dishes with their readers. Their mission is to help inspire the readers to not be afraid of cooking, and to be open-minded to try new things. At the end of the day, they are most proud of themselves when a reader have used a recipe and enjoyed a new dish with loved ones. Together, we can all be food addicts!

Message from K&D:
Thank you to everyone who have supported our food blog and passion for food, cooking, and gardening. Your thoughtful comments have continued to motivate and inspire us to update the blog as often and frequently as possible. We are also extremely thankful for the many companies who have shared their products with us and hosted all of our monthly giveaways. This helps keep our readers entertained :) We hope you continue to be an avid reader of The Food Addicts. Please do share any comments, advice, or suggestions so that we can improve this blog for you!

F.A.Q.

Q: Who writes for the blog?
A: Krissy does the writing for The Food Addicts.

Q: Who does the cooking?
A: Daniel does majority of the cooking, but I stand in as his sous chef and I do a lot of the prep work and other aspects of completing the meal.

Q: Why did you guys decide to start The Food Addicts?
A: Since we started cooking together,  Daniel has always pestered me to start a food blog to put a collection of our home-cooked meals together. One day, I gave in and we brainstormed for a fun blog name, bought the domain, and created a site with WordPress. One of the main reasons we wanted to have a food blog was to expand our creativity with cooking. We didn’t want to be in the same boring routine of making the same boring stuff. So this blog gave us an excuse to try different things and challenge us in the kitchen.

Q: Are you guys photographers? Who takes the pictures?
A: We are not professional photographers, and have never taken a class (although we really want to!) We just try to do our best with taking the pictures of the step-by-step process of our recipes. I do majority of the picture-taking since Daniel is busy making the food.

Q: What camera and lens do you use?
A: We use a Canon Rebel XTI 400D.

Q: When did you start The Food Addicts?
A: Our very first post was dated January 22, 2009.

Q: What are some of the perks of having a food blog?
A: Well, we won’t deny it – we love the freebies. Random companies contact us and give us their products to try out, hoping we would blog about it. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t. And many times, we are able to give their products out to our readers with our monthly giveaways. That’s always fun! Another perk would have to be the enjoyment of sharing this hobby with other foodies, which we get to meet at various events.

Q: Can we come over to your house to eat?
A: If you are a personal friend of ours, we would gladly invite you over, granted you are a fan of our food blog, of course. And the only way for us to know you are an avid reader is to leave some comments from time to time. Your enthusiasm for our cooking could lead to some free and delicious food! On the other hand, if you are a stranger, you may want to start some sort of friendship with us first before begging for food.

Q: Where are you guys from?
A: We are based in Norwalk, California which is in LA County. If you’re asking ethnicity, I am Vietnamese and Daniel is Chinese-Caucasian.

Q: Why do you have a donate button on the bottom?
A: Just in case anyone out there adores and loves us and wants to contribute to the costs of buying ingredients for our recipes, or for server costs. Hey, doesn’t hurt to have it there, right? =)

Send me your address and I will send you a few samples. We’ll be putting up a template on our website soon so these labels can be personalized with a professional look. If you go to mrsgrossmans.com you’ll see a few of these designs unders what’s new. But they are nothing like holding them in your hand! Best, Barbara Marino

No way! I went to CSCA, too! I’d love to have a garden someday, but I totally have a brown thumb. (I did ok with some windowboxes last year, so there’s hope for when I return to the States…)

    Hello Krissy,

You left a comment on my blog a while ago. I’m sorry I didn’t thank you earlier. Better late than never? Well, thank you. Please do visit again, as yes, I have started posting recipes and blogging again.

Cheers and keep cooking all that lovely food!

  24. luboson 22 Oct 2010 at 5:47 am

Hey Krissy & Daniel, you guys have awesome photos! Your site definitely convinced me that I need to finally pony up for a digital SLR – the photos on my site come from a point-and-shoot camera. It’s just not the same. Your latest garlic noodles look great!

I am currently in D.C., but before moving here for school, I lived in Lancaster, CA, so not too far from you guys. I definitely miss the west coast, and will be likely returning there after I am done with my work here.

See ya – and check out my site slovakcooking.com. I am trying to show the world what is Slovak food because t is pretty much unknown outside the country’s borders.

Hello, I enjoy your blog very much. Love this recipe! I was wondering if you have eaten potato balls at the Portos bakery? I love those potato balls and tried to make my own but it doesn’t turn out so great. If you happen to know the recipe, please do share it with us. Many thanks in advance!

    Happy holidays.

    Hello,
I recently came accross your blog because I was hunting down with desperate need the Starbucks Banana Walnut bread and to my surprise I found it in your website. Love the pictures and the simplicity of your step by step directions. I browsed through some of the pics and already have a couple recipes I want to try. I will definately keep returning to your blog….Greetings from Chicago.

What a TERRIFIC BLOG! I read almost every post on your page and saw every picture but I kept coming back for more. Now finally reading thoroughly this main page and boy, I sure love your silly writing style. I think it’s what makes your step by step recipes fun (besides the wonderful pictures, of course). I chuckle when I came across the answer to why you created the blog – “Daniel has always pestered me to start a food blog to put a collection of our home-cooked meals together. One day, I gave in”. LOL. So silly! Such a loving (and lovely) couple you are with a Lovely blog.
