Another Game Dip – Chimichurri Sauce with Flank Steak

Published by at 9:42 am under Friends,Parties

Chimichurri sauce is an Argentinian dip used mainly with grilled meat or as a marinade. There are many variations on this condiment, and we wanted to give it a shot and share it with our friends.

We were invited over to our friend’s place to watch the Lakers game on Thursday, and it was fitting to make something fun and different for the group. Daniel asked his brother Aaron for his Chimichurri sauce recipe, and it turned out to be a big hit! Needless to say, our friends didn’t just use the sauce to dip the meat in, but they also drizzled it over their sausage dog. Yum!

The basic ingredients we used were: parsley, cilantro, oregano, quarter of an onion, 2 jalapenos, minced garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and salt.

We cut up our flank steak in cubes so that it would be easy to dip in the sauce.

Simply take all of the ingredients and blend it together in a food processor or blender. We lost track of how much of each ingredient we used, since we were trying to obtain the right consistency and flavor by doubling the original recipe. It's something that is really simple to make and obviously the blender does all the work for you!

Looks great! I love chimichurri but haven’t made it in ages. You’ve reminded me to make some again soon, I even have flank steak in the freezer.

Now this is nice! I like how the amounts per ingredient are so flexible to taste. Skewered grilled beef dipped into this sauce looks and sounds delicious!

Sara, I hope you were able to make the chimichurri with flank steak! Thanks for all the compliments on this sauce… we really should make a better note of what we used to create the sauce. We just tend to wing it and finish by taste. Food is all subjective anyway, so who’s to say one’s recipe is better than the other?
