April Giveaway – 6 Jar Spice Set from Spices Inc.

For this month’s giveaway, we are proud and excited to work with Spices Inc. to offer you a chance to win 6 different spices of your choice. As mentioned in our previous post, Pork Carnitas with Exotic Spices, we had used a few of the spices we received from Spices Inc. and are still using them in our everyday cooking, so now we want to share the products with you! Spices Inc. definitely has a huge selection of products, ranging from spices and seasonings to dried chilies and organic herbs. Most of which we would LOVE to have in our cupboard!
Anyway, back to the giveaway! We are making this giveaway a bit more interactive this month. Here are the rules:
- Choose any 6 spices, herbs, seasonings, chiles or extracts from www.spicesinc.com
- Select a creative name for your spice set
- Provide a couple of sentences on why you picked these particular spices (i.e. family favorites, reminds me of my grams, etc). This is equally important as the story is often one of the biggest deciding factors when two spices are “almost too close to call”
- Contest ends Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 @ 11:59PM PST
- US participants only, please!
The winner will by chosen by the most creative combination! Spices Inc. will build the winner’s spice set, photograph and add it to their website as a special “Limited Edition Spice Sets.” The winner will get credit in the copy block (i.e. this spice set was created by Cindy G. of Los Angeles). And then of course the custom spice set is sent to the winner!
Disclaimer: In compliance with the FTC Guides, updated 10/5/09, this article has material connections. The Food Addicts (TFA) received no fees for hosting this giveaway on behalf of Spices Inc. Spices Inc. will provide 1 spice set; 1 spice set was also provided to TFA at no cost by Spice Inc. to facilitate the review process. TFA does not endorse the company mentioned above.

i’d choose: cayenne, mustard, cinnamon, basil, cilantro, and mint
i would name mine: essential herb/spice pack!
i picked those because they’re used in pretty much all the dishes that we eat at the house
I need to get some organic rubbed sage, smoked black pepper, smoked sweet paprika, organic ground allspice, marjoram, and Pacific smoked sea salt.
All of these ingredients are used in our Homemade Breakfast Sausage recipe http://www.houseofannie.com/homemade-breakfast-sausage/
With the special smokiness of these spices, I think our breakfast sausage can be taken to the next level! So we’ll call this set the Smoky Breakfast Sausage combo.
BTW, please update your CommentLuv plugin!
I would choose habanero flakes, chipotle powder, Sichuan peppercorns, hot curry powder, Thai seasoning, and Hill Country hot chili powder. My collection would be called “If You Can’t Take The Heat”. I chose these because my honey and I love to cook and eat spicy foods. With these spices, we would definitely get that “burn” we love.
“Susan’s Mexican Kitchen Spice Set”
I would choose Garlic Salt, Mexican Seasoning, Chili Powder Mild, Salt Free Chili Powder, Adobo Seasoning and Fajita Seasoning.
The “In a Pinch” Set is meant to be a cook’s (or just a lazy chef’s) bff.
My husband and I can put in some long hours at work, so cooking and meal planning is often the last thing on our minds. The set of herbs & spices I’ve picked out are a pretty spot-on replica of the spices essential to our pantry and palate – things we keep on hand to cater to whatever flavor/taste mood we’re in at that moment.
There’s definitely wiggle room amongst some of the categories (either reg or organic will do!), but here’s what I’d choose, based on the flavor profiles we’re usually craving:
Exotic: Ginger Powder
Savory: Granulated Garlic
Sweet: Vanilla Extract
Just Like Mom Used to Make: Italian Seasoning
Spicy: Red Pepper Flakes
Tangy: Lemon Pepper
Adrienne´s last [type] ..Puppy Love
Garlic herb, citrus steak seasoning, lime pepper, pizza seasoning, prime rib seasoning, and tarragon would be my choices. I like grilling so half are for that, as for the tarragon, I have difficulty finding around my area.
I’d choose the following:
Sweet Basil
Bay Leaves
Oregano
Cracked Black Pepper
Rosemary
Garlic Powder
These kitchen staples would be called “Nona’s secret stash” because it reminds me of the simple, timeless goodness of Italian cooking of my own Nona Francesca! (my namesake!)
“Balmy Beach Vacation in Your Very Own Kitchen” Spice Set
Jamaican Jerk Seasoning
Curry, Maharajah Style
Chipotle Honey Rub
Manzanillo Mexican Seasoning
Salt Free Thai Spice
Tropical Caribbean Turkey Rub
I want to go somewhere warm, sandy and tropical this summer. Guess what? I’m not. So a “Balmy Beach Vacation in Your Very Own Kitchen” Spice Set would be the perfect way to try and transport yourself; just close your eyes, put on some Bob Marley, pop a spice rubbed BBQ’d shrimp in your mouth…and pretend.

“Around the World in 6 Spices” Spice Set
Chinese Five Spice – Far East
Madras Curry – India (I think that covers London, too)
Bere Bere – Africa
Salt Free Adobo Seasoning – Latin America
Cajun Seasoning Mild Heat – Islands leading back to…
Pumpkin Pie Spice – America
As a grad student, there are a lot of weekday nights when I inevitably throw a chicken breast in a skilled and roast some veggies with whatever spices I have around. With six distinct flavors, I could use the same basic ingredients every night and still go on a culinary adventure.
My Spice Set would be called “The Rockin’ Moroccan” and would include:
*Moroccan Chicken Spice Rub
*Saffron
*Piri Piri Seasoning
*Ras El Hanout
*Garam Masala
*Mediterranean Cyprus Flake Salt
I’m always looking for new and exciting recipes to cook for my husband and lately have been really interested in Mediterranean, Indian, and Moroccan cooking {tagines, curries, etc}. This set seems like a good place to start.
I would name mine “World Of Flavor”
A bit of flavor from all over the world
- Manzanillo Mexican Seasoning
- Smoked Sweet Paprika
- Chipotle Powder
- Kansas City BBQ Rub
- Salt Free Thai Spice
- Pizza Seasoning
Kelly´s last [type] ..TheDanishGirl- @DavisForce I cant control my blinking and squeeze my eyes shut- my eyes are dry and burn really bad and light and computers hurt to look at
I would call mine “Organically Sweet” and it would be:
Organic Cocoa Powder
Organic Saigon Cinnamon Powder
Organic Vanilla Beans
Organic Lavender
Organic Almond Extract
Organic Cardamom Seeds
These are the flavors I rely on for all my sweet baking needs!
Up until recently I thought everybody had a spice cupboard but apparently do not..Last week I refreshed my spice cabinet with a new set of spices. Its amazing how easy it is to enhance the flavor of a dish with just a few healthy shakes of fresh herbs and seasonings..If youre still using old spices or Old Spice cologne for that matter you might consider updating both..My friend takes a Sharpie and writes the day she purchased her spices right on the jar so she knows how long a spice has been sitting on her shelf.
