August Giveaway – 4 Bags of TERRA Chips and Martini Glass Bowl

Published by at 3:27 pm under Contests and Giveaways

I have to admit – I have never tried Terra Chips before until they shipped us their products to promote their “Fire Up the Flavor” online sweepstakes. I opened up my very first bag of the Original Terra exotic vegetable chips which includes Taro, Sweet Potato, Yuca, Batata, and Parsnip… and needless to say, the chips were fantastic – and I’m not saying that because they gave us free chips, but because I really did enjoy them. I’m not a big “chips” fan in general, and there are only a few I can see myself eating. I think what I liked about Terra Chips is that it’s vegetables in a chip form and it’s not overly greasy. I feel like I get more nutrients snacking on these than regular potato chips.

Here is more information on the “Fire Up the Flavor” online sweepstakes: Runs through August 31st and features 25 grand prizes (charcoal grill, serving bowl, $250 grocery gift card, 12 bags of Terra Chips and a printed entertaining guide) and 50 first prizes (six serving bowls, an array of Terra Chips and a printed entertaining guide). Details on both are located at I highly suggest entering the contest and whipping up your own fun recipe with the chips. There are endless possibilities!

I decided to make an Avocado-Corn Salsa with the ingredients I had on hand to eat along with the New Terra A La Mexicana chips. These vegetable chips are seasoned with a piquant blend of authentic Mexican flavors of vine-ripened tomato, hearty black beans and tangy roasted garlic. These spices work well with the refreshing and healthy salsa I made… which is a mixture of avocado, corn, cherry tomato, red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and salt and pepper. Easy as that!

Alright my friends, who’s ready to win our August Giveaway? One winner will get 4 bags of Terra Chips along with a Martini Glass Bowl and Entertainment Guide of great summer recipes. Here’s what we’d like you to do - leave a comment letting us know if you’ve ever tried Terra Chips before and what you think of them; if you haven’t tried it, just tell us how you plan to enjoy the chips if you win the prize pack. Will you invite some friends over and have a little party, squirrel it away and eat it all by yourself, or make a dish to accompany the chips? We’d like to hear your thoughts!

Our contest ends Friday, August 13th. That’s right – Friday the 13th @ 11:59 PST.

Disclaimer: In compliance with the FTC Guides, updated 10/5/09, this article has material connections.  The Food Addicts (TFA) received no fees for hosting this giveaway on behalf of TERRA.   TERRA will provide 1 prize pack to the winner free of charge;  1 prize pack was also provided to TFA at no cost by TERRA to facilitate the review process.  TFA does not endorse the company mentioned above.

Love Terra Chips! I buy them at Trader Joe’s all the time!

  2. copekaton 06 Aug 2010 at 3:52 pm

I have been eating Terra Chips for about 8 years now. And while I like their original Exotic Blend it was their Sweet Potato Chips that turned me into a die hard fan! These chips are not only fabulous by themselves, or as a side to my husband’s infamous Tuna Melts, but I’ve also used put them in a food processor and used them in place of bread crumbs for oven fried chicken breast and pan seared sole or tiliapia. A quirky thing I like to do is heat them in a microwave for a few seconds, then sprinkle with Penzy’s Smoked Spanish Paprika and a dash of cayenne. The smoke and spice bite go well with the warm sweet crunch.

Oddly enough, I’m not a fan of Tarro root, but I really like them as a chip!

What would I do with the prize? A party of course!

haven’t tried it, but would love to. This would be great for picnic!

  4. tcon 06 Aug 2010 at 3:56 pm

The first time I tried Terra Chips was on a Porter Airway flight. They were tasty, complimentary and went very well with the wine we were offered.

  5. Alisaon 06 Aug 2010 at 4:03 pm

I’ve actually never had terra chips but would LOVE to try them. I’ve had another brand of sweet potato and veggie chips and they were fantastic.

I’ve tried the chips before and like them. You can’t beat the fact they are healthy for you.
With 4 kids in the house, we’ll finish them before we can have a party. Hope we win. Thanks for the giveaway.

I’d love the opportunity to try these chips with two of my favorite dips. One is a guacamole with fresh tomatoes and salsa mixed in. The other is a crab dip using Dungeness crab. I feel soo guilty eating them with greasy potato chips.

i’ve searched for a vefetable chip that is healthier. I love dips soo much.

  8. Debon 06 Aug 2010 at 4:35 pm

I LOVE these chips – been eating them for years! They satisfy my craving for a chip AND I know they are a little bit healthy – the best of both worlds!

  9. Anna Fargoon 06 Aug 2010 at 4:51 pm

I love these chips. I love to crush them and use them as a breading for baked mahi mahi. They are also great dipped in artichoke and crab dip and hummus. They are healthy, gluten free and so tasty.

  10. Katherineon 06 Aug 2010 at 4:55 pm

These chips are so yummy and perfect for a late-night snack! Or a pre-dinner snack, to stave off the munchies while cooking. I love that they’re salty with a hint of sweetness and relatively healthy.

  11. Alessaon 06 Aug 2010 at 5:05 pm

I love terra chips. I am a chip addict in general. Terra chips make me think I’m being healthier :) .

  12. lynnon 06 Aug 2010 at 6:34 pm

These chips are great. I am in the preocess of reproducing a home version. So far I have done yucca (a slam dunk), sweet potato (yummy) and beat (though there’s are not real beat, but beat juice dyed mystery root.

I would love to try Terra chips, I’ve had my eye on them for a while now–I would have a few friends over–and we would all try them together—I love having everyone try something new.

  16. Cathon 06 Aug 2010 at 7:36 pm

Nope. Never tried them. But, now that I’ve read your review, I might buy some. Whether I win or buy them, I’d share them with my son, who is a vegetarian. I’m always on the lookout for nutritious foods that he can enjoy and that are easy for a college student to prepare.

I have heard about Terra but sadly have never tried them. They look like a fun and healthy alternative to potato chips. I would for sure squirrel these away for myself to try and treat myself to a movie night with some chips, and other snacks.

  30. My Sassy Chefon 07 Aug 2010 at 5:40 am

I would love to make hors d’oevres with them, and make my not-so-healthy friends eat their veggies, without even noticing how a crisp and tasty chip is made of veggies! Then I will save a bag for myself, and crouch in the closet to enjoy the crunch and crisp of every single chip that goes into my mouth. Just the thought makes my mouth water!

  33. Michelleon 07 Aug 2010 at 9:34 am

I Have tried Terra chips before!! My best friend from college was obsessed with them, and every time I’d visit him, he’d offer them to me. I would pick out all the taro chips and sweet potato ones and leave the rest. hahhahah We made a good team. As you can tell, I loved ‘em!

  34. Surgeon 07 Aug 2010 at 10:21 am

  35. Tamara B.on 07 Aug 2010 at 11:23 am

I have tried all of their chips and my favorite is the Original. If I won I would share these at our neighborhood Luau party we have every year an end of the summer celebration with some home made salsa.

  36. Kristenon 07 Aug 2010 at 3:08 pm

Terra chips are great, but too expensive for anything but an occasional splurge purchase (the trader joe’s version is pretty good by the way). I’d love to try the exotic harvest ones!

  37. graceon 07 Aug 2010 at 4:30 pm

i’ve never tried terra chips, but they’re just crying out for some guacamole love!

  38. Michele P.on 07 Aug 2010 at 7:12 pm

I have never tried Terra Chips before, however I would love to use them for entertaining-when we have friends over and want a healthy snack. I definitely would by A La Mexicana and make a salsa similar to what you did, just because my hubby is Guatemalan and his friends here are from Brazil, and that is what they love to eat. So yes, I would share with friends and have fun doing so!

  39. Altaon 07 Aug 2010 at 7:14 pm

I love love love these chips. They’re great – I don’t eat corn, so they make a great stand-in as a salsa delivery vehicle. But they’re also great alone – much better than an ordinary potato chip.

As a general rule, I avoid potato chips. When I saw Terra’s exotic root chips at Whole foods a couple of years ago, I bought them thinking I was probably wasting my money. Boy was I wrong! They are out of control good and I am out of control when I eat them! After that, I discovered the blue potato chips, then the carrot chips. They are all so good. Oddly enough, my favorite has become the unsalted potato chips. I love the simple taste of the potatoe without the distraction of the salt.

  46. Jackieon 08 Aug 2010 at 3:51 pm

I have tried the original ones and love them!! I want to try the Mexicana ones after reading your post. I think they would go great with guac!! If I win there will be a party with the neighbors!!

I adore Terra Chips. In fact, I’m borderline addicted. I always pick up a bag of the original whenever I hit up Fresh & Easy but I really should just buy them in bulk because I eat most, if not all, of the bag the minute I get home.

I love how crunchy they are but also the fact that they are not at all oily. No icky residue left on your fingers to stain your clothes, no weird coating in your mouth….just crunch and flavor. And I love the variety of vegetables – sweet potato, yucca, taro…exotic and yet easily accessible!

P.S. My cats also like to munch on them.

  64. Joyon 13 Aug 2010 at 11:26 am

I’ve enjoyed terra chips for about 5 or more years. I especially like the blue ones and the mixed ones. Not too salty and a nice addidtion to a sandwich at lunch or a special party as a dip or just eaten plain. I don’t buy them too often – wait for sales or coupons because they are a little pricey. I’m retired to have to watch my pennies.

How about “simple & scrumptious terra chip crusted salmon!” easy to make. You will look like a gourmet cook.

Take a few handfuls of chips (mixed or your favorite) and put them in food processor. Chop up, don’t make crumbs too thin. Take equal parts ketchup & mayo and blend together. (1/2 cup) take 6 fillets (+/- 4 oz.each) wash, pat dry w/paper towel. take basting brush and brush mayo mixture thinly onto both sides of salmon. take salmon and coat with crushed terra chips. place salmon in non stick baking pan. bake @ 350 for +/- 20 min. put under broiler a few minutes to “crisp” the coating. Place on serving dish surrounded by chips. Serve w/mango & peach salsa.

This can also be done with one large piece of salmon +/- 3 pounds.

For those who don’t love fish, it will work on chicken too.

  68. Alexon 01 Oct 2010 at 7:07 am

OMG! I love terra chips!! The sweet potatoes are my favorite. I wish I could enjoy them more often, but they are a bit too pricey to buy all the time! I would love to win them, though! Thanks for the giveaway :)
